Two Dead, Two Survive in Boating Accident South of Muskogee

A tragic boating accident claimed the lives of two people on the evening of May 5, 2025, at a private strip pit located approximately four miles south of Muskogee in Muskogee County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. when a 2024 14-foot Pelican canoe carrying four individuals capsized, ejecting all occupants into the water.
Roscoe A. Beasley, 42, and a 14-year-old girl—both from Muskogee—did not resurface after the vessel overturned. Their bodies were recovered the following morning, May 6, at approximately 8:13 a.m., by the OHP Dive Team using side-scan sonar to locate them in 22 feet of water. Both were pronounced deceased by the Medical Examiner.
Two other occupants, Kimberly N. Rollerson, 37, and a 13-year-old girl, were able to swim to shore and were not injured.
Authorities confirmed that no personal flotation devices were in use at the time of the accident. Weather conditions were reported as clear, with an air temperature of 73 degrees and water temperature at 68 degrees.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident. The report notes that it is based on the investigating trooper’s findings and may include their professional opinions.
