Hello from the farm! Berries are progressing well!

  04/24/2019 – Hello from the Owasso Christmas Tree and Berry Farm.   Winter was not too severe and so far spring has been favorable.   A couple of cold snaps but not to the degree of damage to our blackberries and blueberries.   The blueberries are in full bloom. Blackberries have swollen bloom buds and should open up in the next 7-10 days.    45-47 days from bloom to harvest so we are right on schedule for the end of May, early June harvest.   We will keep this website updated so stay in touch for early picking. 06/06/2018 Hello from Owasso Christmas Tree and Berry Farm! We are now picking both blackberries and blueberries. Blueberries have been great this season and will continue through July. Blackberries have finally ripened and we will start picking Thursday, June 7th. We will have both blueberries and blackberries pre-picked for sale on Saturday, June 9th. 05/29/2018 Hello from Owasso Christmas Tree and Berry Farm, Our first day to pick blueberries (only) will be Saturday, June 2nd. Blackberries will follow in a week to 10 days. We will send a second email out when a blackberry picking date has been established. Our hours are Tuesday and Thursday 7am to noon, and Saturday 7am-4pm. Hello from the farm! 05/21/2018 – Our cold Spring weather has delayed the ripening of our berry crops. We anticipate the first week in June for Blueberries. For Blackberries, a week to ten days later. Prospects are looking better for a decent crop. Blackberries are now producing a second bloom shoot which means we will go into July for picking. We have planted a few “Von” variety of Blackberry. A later variety to avoid the later cold Springs we seem to be having.     04/09/18 – Our spring weather this year has not been conducive to growing berries, 70s daytime 20s night time ( they are confused ).  We have kept our rotating trellis berries laying on the ground with the winter blankets in place.  Some of our non trellis berries have overhead sprinklers and we have kept them running to keep a coating of ice on the vines.  Blackberries now have bloom buds but not yet open.  One variety of blueberries are in full bloom.
