11 a.m. – Cherokee Nation hosts its annual Public School Appreciation Day at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. The Cherokee Nation annually gives school districts in northeast Oklahoma 38 percent of funding from motor vehicle tag sales. During the event, school superintendents from more than 100 school districts will be awarded checks totaling more than $5.4 million to use how they see fit.

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – The Cherokee Heritage Center in Tahlequah provides free admission to citizens of any of the three federally recognized Cherokee tribes plus one guest as part of Cherokee Saturday. The center is located at 21192 S. Keeler Drive.
11 a.m. to noon – The Cherokee Heritage Center, located at 21192 S. Keeler Drive in Tahlequah, hosts a one-hour genealogy class. The class is $10 per adult and $5 per student in grades K-12. Advanced registration is required. To register, contact Gene Norris or Ashley Vann at 918-456-6007.

2 p.m. – The Cherokee Nation celebrates the topping out of the 469,000-square-foot Cherokee Nation W.W. Hastings Expansion in Tahlequah. When complete in 2019, the health facility will be the largest tribally operated health center in the country.
March 10
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Cherokee Heritage Center hosts a class on round-reed basketry at the center, located at 21192 S. Keeler Dr. in Tahlequah. Cherokee Nation Male Seminary Recreation Center in Tahlequah hosts a Nutrition Challenge Event. The six-week challenge includes access to a personal trainer and education about portion control and healthy eating. Prizes will be awarded to the top three participants and registration is $5. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Cherokee Nation hosts Cherokee Nation Legislative Day at the state Capitol in Oklahoma City. Tribal leaders and employees will be on site to promote the tribe’s culture as well as programs and services. For more information, call 918-453-5238.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Cherokee Nation Cultural Tourism hosts Spring Break Make and Take classes at all Cherokee Nation Museums. Students can visit any Cherokee Nation museum to participate in a cultural craft. For more information, call 888-999-6007.

1 to 3 p.m. – The Cherokee Heritage Center hosts a special book signing event for “Cherokee National Treasures: in their own words” at the center, located at 21192 S. Keeler Drive in Tahlequah. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – The Cherokee Heritage Center hosts Indian Territory Days at the center, located at 21192 S. Keeler Drive in Tahlequah. The event features two days of hands-on activities and demonstrations, focusing on Cherokee life during the 1890s. Admission is $5 per student and $2 per adult; teachers and bus drivers are free. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Cherokee Nation Amo Health Center in Salina hosts a National Nutrition Month Event. Participants will have the opportunity to sample a variety grains and whole grain foods and participate in a question and answer session about the benefits of whole grain foods for disease management. Cherokee Nation W.W. Keeler Tribal Complex, health centers and satellite offices will be closed in observance of Good Friday. W.W. Hastings Hospital emergency services, Marshal Service and Cherokee Nation EMS will still be operational.
