ODOT Issues Holiday Travel Advisory

12/19/2018 – The following construction projects will impact travel on highways and interstates Fri., Dec. 21, through Wed., Dec. 26.

STATEWIDE

I-40 narrowed to one lane near Elk City, Washita Co.

I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between Foss (mm 53) and Elk City (mm 41) for a surface repair project.

I-44 and US-62/Rogers Lane narrowed in Lawton, Comanche Co.

US-69 narrowed near Eufaula, McIntosh Co.

US-69 is narrowed to one lane in each direction near Eufaula for a pavement project. Expect delays in the area.

US-77/SH-29 closed, detoured near Wynnewood, Garvin Co.

US-77/SH-29 is closed just west of Wynnewood for replacement of the bridge over the Washita River. Traffic is detoured onto SH-29, I-35 and SH-17A.

US-60 closed east of US-169 in Nowata Co.

All lanes of east and westbound US-60 are closed from three miles east of the US-169 junction to approximately three miles west of the SH-28 junction in Nowata County for a bridge replacement project. Traffic is directed to use US-169 and SH-28 as a detour. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time on the detour.

SH-152 narrowed near Cordell, Washita Co.

SH-152 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between US-183 and N 2190 Rd. near Cordell for a surface repair project.

SH-55 closed at Rocky, Washita Co.

SH-55 is closed at Rocky for a bridge replacement project. Local detour is posted.

US-270 narrowed south of Seiling, Dewey Co.

US-270 is narrowed to one lane in each direction near SH-51 south of Seiling for a widening project.

US-183 narrowed near Taloga, Dewey Co.

US-183 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between Taloga and Lenor Rd. for a surface repair project.

SH-8 closed, detoured near Okeene, Blaine Co.

SH-8 is closed one mile south of Okeene at Spring Creek for a bridge replacement project. Traffic is detoured to SH-51A and SH-51.

SH-8 closed, detoured near Hitchcock, Blaine Co.

SH-8 is closed east of Hitchcock for a bridge replacement project. Traffic is detoured to SH-51A and SH-51.

SH-58 closed, detoured near Canton, Blaine Co.

SH-58 is closed east of Canton at the Canadian River for a bridge replacement project. Traffic is detoured to US-270, SH-8 and SH-51A.

SH-30 narrowed near Hollis, Harmon Co.

SH-30 is narrowed to one lane in both directions north of Hollis for a bridge replacement project at the Salt Fork of the Red River.

SH-19 is closed at SH-115 in Kiowa Co.

SH-19 is closed between SH-115 and SH-58 for a bridge replacement project. There is a local detour in place.

US-283 narrowed near Mangum, Greer Co.

US-283 is narrowed to one lane in each direction north of Mangum for a resurfacing project.

US-183 narrowed near Snyder in Kiowa Co.

US-183 is narrowed over US-62 near Snyder for a bridge project.

US-277 narrowed near Geronimo, Comanche Co.

US-277 is narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic signals in place, south of Geronimo for a bridge replacement project.

US-81 narrowed near Chickasha, Grady Co.

US-81 is narrowed to one lane over the Washita River bridge north of Chickasha for a bridge rehabilitation project.

SH-58 narrowed near Carnegie, Caddo Co.

SH-58 is narrowed to one lane over the Washita River bridge north of Carnegie for a bridge replacement project.

SH-99A closed near Little, Seminole Co.

SH-99A is closed one mile west of US-377/SH-99 near Little for a bridge replacement project. Detour is US-377/SH-99, I-40, SH-9A, SH3E.

US-259 narrowed near Smithville, McCurtain Co.

US-259 is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place near Smithville for a bridge rehabilitation project.

US-259 narrowed north of Broken Bow, McCurtain Co.

US-259 is narrowed to one lane 2.5 miles north of Broken Bow over Yanubbee Creek for bridge replacements. Temporary traffic signal is in place.

US-69 narrowed north of McAlester, Pittsburg Co.

US-69 is narrowed 3 miles north of the Indian Nation Turnpike in McAlester for a resurfacing project.

US-69B/SH-113 is closed north of McAlester, Pittsburg Co.

US-69B/SH-113 is closed over US-69 north of McAlester for a bridge rehabilitation project.

SH-50 narrowed near Mooreland, Woodward Co.

SH-50 is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals at the North Canadian River, three miles south of Mooreland for a bridge rehabilitation project.

US-60 closed east of US-169 in Nowata Co.

US-60 is closed from three miles east of the US-169 junction to approximately three miles west of the SH-28 junction in Nowata County for a bridge replacement project. Traffic is directed to use US-169 and SH-28 as a detour. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time on the detour.

US-60 narrowed at Caney River, Washington Co.

US-60 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between S. Quapaw Ave. and S. Comanche Ave. for a bridge rehabilitation project. Delays can be expected, especially during peak travel times.

US-75 narrowed near Ramona in Washington Co.

Drivers can expect various lane closures on north and southbound US-75 near 2900 Rd. (north of Ramona) in Washington County for an intersection modification project. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time in this corridor.

SH-20 narrowed in Hominy, Osage Co.

SH-20 is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place at Boar Creek, east of the SH-99 junction in Hominy for a bridge replacement project.

SH-48 narrowed at Cimarron River, Creek Co.

SH-48 is narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic signals in place over the Cimarron River, two miles north of the SH-51 junction near Mannford for a bridge replacement project.

SH-99 narrowed north of SH-51, Creek County

SH-99 is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place at Lagoon Creek, just north of the SH-51 junction north of Oilton for a bridge rehabilitation project.

SH-10 narrowed near Welch, Craig Co.

SH-10 is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place at Big Cabin Creek, west of Welch for a bridge replacement project.

SH-125 closed, detoured south of US-69 in Miami, Ottawa Co.

All lanes of SH-125 are closed over the Neosho River just south of the US-69 junction in Miami for a bridge rehabilitation project. Traffic is directed to use SH-125, US-60 and US-69 as a detour. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time on these routes.

US-81 is narrowed between Okarche and Kingfisher, Kingfisher Co.

US-81 is narrowed to one lane in each direction and the speed limit is reduced between Kingfisher and Okarche for a highway reconstruction project.

US-81 narrowed near SH-33, Kingfisher Co.

US-81 is narrowed to one lane in each direction north of the SH-33 junction in Kingfisher for a bridge replacement project.

US-81/US-60 narrowed in Enid, Garfield Co.

US-81/US-60 is narrowed to one lane in each direction two miles north of the US-412 junction in Enid for a bridge replacement project.

SH-11 narrowed near Blackwell, Kay Co.

SH-11 is narrowed to one lane traffic with temporary signals in place east of the US-177 junction in Blackwell for a bridge rehabilitation project.

OKLAHOMA CITY METRO

I-44 westbound ramp at May Ave. is narrowed, speed limits reduced

The westbound I-44 ramp remains narrowed to one lane between May Ave. and 36th St. for ongoing bridge construction. Speed limits are reduced and wide loads are restricted through the work zone.

I-35 narrows over Deep Fork Creek south of I-44 through 2020

The following closures can be expected on north and southbound I-35 over Deep Fork Creek between the I-44 interchange (mm 133) and N.E. 50th St. (mm 132A) for a bridge reconstruction project that will continue through early 2020:

  • Southbound I-35 lanes will shift at N.E 63rd St. through mid- 2019.
  • Southbound I-35 E. Frontage Rd. will be narrowed to one lane from N.E. 63rd St. to N.E. 50th St. through early 2020.
  • Northbound I-35 is narrowed to two lanes between N.E. 50th St. (mm 132A) and the I-44 interchange (mm 133) through early 2020;

Alternate route options include SH-74/Lake Hefner Parkway and I-44.

OKC Boulevard closed at various locations through mid-2019

Oklahoma City Boulevard intersections between Shields/EK Gaylord Blvd. to Hudson Ave., are open but remain four-way stops with traffic signals scheduled for installation later in the project at Walker, Harvey and Robinson. The section of OKC Boulevard between Walker to near Western remains under construction through mid-2019.

SH-74 lanes shift at N.W. 164th St. near Deer Creek

SH-74 between N.W. 164th St. and N.W. 206th St./Covell Rd. near Deer Creek is under construction for a widening project. Motorists should be aware of the following traffic impacts:

  • Northbound and southbound SH-74 lanes are temporarily shifted between N.W. 164th and N.W. 178th St. through late spring 2019.

I-40 work continues between I-240 and Peebly Rd., Triple X Rd. bridge closed

Drivers should be alert to narrowed lanes and to eastbound I-40 traffic shifted to the west next to westbound I-40 lanes between I-240 (mm 165) and Peebly Rd. (mm 169) as part of on-going widening and interchange reconstruction project at Choctaw Road. The Triple X Rd. bridge over I-40 is closed until 2019 and drivers must use an alternate route. I-35 lanes shift near S. 19th St. in Moore

I-35 lanes are currently shifted between S. 19th St. (mm 116) and Indian Hills Rd. (mm 114) as part of construction of the new S.W. 34th St. bridge over I-35. Also, S.W. 34th St. will be closed to through traffic at Telephone Rd. and the east and west I-35 service roads are narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic signals at S.W. 34th St. through summer 2019. The speed limit is also reduced in the work zone.

US-169 narrows near 56th St. North

Drivers can expect various lane closures on northbound US-169 near 56th St. North from 7 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday and again from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday as part of an ongoing bridge maintenance project.

I-244/129th E. Ave. bridge project; lane and ramp closures

  • All lanes of 129th E. Ave. over I-244 are closed until spring 2019 as part of a bridge replacement project. Traffic can use Admiral Pl. and Pine St. as a detour during this time.
  • The eastbound I-244 off-ramp to 129th E. Ave. is closed through spring 2019.
  • Expect delays in the corridor, and plan ahead for extra travel time in this area.

US-169 narrowed north of Collinsville

The right lanes of north and southbound US-169 are closed at the Caney River and at the Caney River Overflow north of Collinsville as part of an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project. Plan ahead for extra travel time in this area.
