TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Parents looking for camps this summer can still apply for Cherokee Nation’s Camp Cherokee, which offers day camps for elementary students and a week long residential camp for middle and high school students.
Applications are online at camp.cherokee.org. They can also be picked up in Cherokee Nation’s education services office at the W.W. Keeler Tribal Complex in Tahlequah or email camp@cherokee.org.

Camp Cherokee is free and exposes Cherokee students to art, traditional games, science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities.
The day camps are for students entering grades 1-7. The camps will be held in five locations throughout the Cherokee Nation jurisdiction. The overnight residential camp is for 225 students entering grades 7-12 at Camp Heart O’ Hills in Welling. Students will attend morning and afternoon classes based on their areas of interest.
Campsite locations, dates of day camps and deadlines to apply are as follows:

  • Grove Schools; June 8-12, May 22
  • Kansas Schools; June 22-26, June 5
  • Claremore, Rogers State University; July 6-10, June 19
  • Heart O’ Hills (day camp); July 20-24, July 2
  • Heart O’ Hills (residential camp); July 19-24, July 2
