Foundation helps students prepare for college entrance exam
TAHLEQUAH, Okla.— High school juniors and seniors, who are Cherokee Nation citizens, can participate in free prep classes in advance of the December ACT exam. The classes provided by Cherokee Nation Foundation begin the last week of October and conclude with the National ACT exam on December 12.

“This is by far one of the most important things we do here at the foundation,” said Janice Randall, executive director of the Cherokee Nation Foundation. “We work with each student to prepare them for the test and help them get into the university of their choice. A high score can drastically impact where they can attend and the financial resources available to help them succeed.”

The six-week course is offered at Carl Albert State College in Sallisaw and Indian Capital Technology Center in Muskogee. Curriculum includes interactive instruction by a Princeton Review instructor and three practice tests.

In previous years, students have increased their scores by an average of 3.5 points, and some individual scores have increased by as much as 10 points.

Students interested in the course can pick up registration forms from their high school guidance counselors or call the foundation at 918-207-0950. The deadline to enroll is October 20.
